330 ml capped bottle, purchased at the brewery. Poured in the original Weyermann bulbous base stemmed glass an unfiltered, opaque and burgundy-brown coloured Rauchbier Bock with a generous one finger fine, dense, creamy and beige foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles.
Soft carbonation. Good lacing.
The aroma is soft smoked malts, caramel, bread.
The flavour is powerful smoked malts, coffeish tones, a spicy spot, licorice and on the back ground sweety & wheaty malts.
The mouthfeel is quite fulled, creamy and smoked. The texture is watery.
This medium to full bodied Rauchbier Bock has a long smoked finish.
The three malts, barley, wheat and Rauch, are very well blending together and the result is a pleasant and convincing Bamberger interpretation of the style. I enjoyed it.
