330 ml long neck & capped bottle, purchased at the brewery. Poured in the original La Choulette stemmed glass a clear and dark burgundy brown coloured Porter with a one finger very fine, dense, creamy and tan foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles.
Soft carbonation. Great lacing.
The aroma is malty, powerful spicy, vanilla, fruity with dark berries and surprising vegetables, black olives.
The flavour is spicy, sweety vanilla, fruity, dark berries, coffee beans, milk chocolate, herbal notes, all that on a solid malty base.
The mouthfeel is prickly, fulled, dark ashes and quite smooth. The texture is watery.
This full bodied Porter has a dry spicy, vanilla and milky finish. The honourable 8,0 % ABV is never relevant and very well hidden.
The incursion of La Choulette Brewery in a beer style entirely out of its usual, Bière de Garde, production is a real success. La Choulette BlackOut is well flavoured and ... I enjoyed it.
