750 ml capped bottle, purchased at the brewery in Kobylysy. Poured in the original Bad Flash stemmed glass an unpasteurised, unfiltered, opaque and " black of black " coloured R I S with a generous one finger, fine and tan foamy head that had a mid-sized retention and a lot of micro bubbles.
Soft carbonation. Some floating sediments. Some lacing.
The aroma is crafty roasted malts, crafty coffee beans, dried fruits, nuts, fruits, dark berries and ... vegetables, green olives.
The flavour is powerful roasted malts, coffee beans, caramel tones, dark chocolate, dried fruits, figs and spicy, vanilla and licorice.
The mouthfeel is fulled, sweety and a bit sticky. The texture is oily.
This full bodied R I S has a roasted malts, coffeish finish and a lazy, late coming, but real, warming continuation. The proud 10,5 % ABV are never playing the first violin.
Torpid Mind is brewed in Kobylysy, one of the hills in Prague, by the Pivovar Bad Flash. Surprising easy going, for a 10,5 % ABV, this Torpid Mind is a rather solid and well made czech interpretation of the Russian Imperial Stout style. I enjoyed it.
